Lorraine Heskett ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Zeyer Funeral Chapel - Nampa on Mar. 9, 2026.Lorraine Louise Heskett (Durey), 82, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on the morning of February 5, 2026, in Meridian.Lorraine was born on January 26, 1944, to Berdette and Leona Durey in Iowa. She was a beautiful woman with an even more beautiful soul. Throughout her life, she lived in Iowa and California before settling in Idaho in 1986 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.Though she stood just 4 feet 10 inches tall, she was a spunky and spirited woman who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Lorraine was deeply respected and dearly loved. Many would say she was the most caring and kindhearted person they knew-someone who would truly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.Family meant everything to Lorraine. She did all she could to ensure her loved ones were cared for and connected. She was the glue that held the family together. Her wisdom guided us, even when it wasn't always what we wanted to hear. She was a devoted mother who raised her two boys alone, showing incredible strength, resilience, and unconditional love. She was the best "Mamau" anyone could ever ask for. She created magic in the simplest ways-doing crafts; making "finger ladies" at lunchtime; bringing home soft tacos from Taco Bell or chili and baked potatoes from Wendy's. She made every birthday and holiday special. She lovingly made piñatas; gave grandkids pie tins filled with frozen money-calling it "cold hard cash"; stuffed stockings with random treasures, oranges, and strawberry candies; and always had extra Christmas presents wrapped just in case someone unexpected stopped by.Lorraine was also an amazing neighbor and friend within her 50-and-over community. She was always ready to lend a hand-watering plants, mowing yards, pulling weeds, shopping, or driving someone where they needed to go. She was constantly on the move in her holy jeans, tank top, button-up long-sleeved shirt, and bandana-a look that perfectly matched her energetic and caring spirit.Above all, it was the love she gave so freely to every person in her life that defined her. She was extraordinary in the way she lived and loved. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.Lorraine was preceded in death by her five babies-Infant Carl, Baby Casey Allan, Baby Mikki Lynn, Baby Rae Lynn, and Baby Susan Kathleen Lynn; her parents; her brothers Donald, Robert, and Richard; her sisters Donna and Marilyn; and her dear friends Mona and Marylin. She is survived by her sister Phyllis; her eldest son, Rex "Chico" (Lori, Shawna, and girlfriend Sharon); her youngest son, Lonny "Jay," and daughter-in-law Sheri; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Kelse), Cortney (Andrew), Jordan (Josh), Zak, Rayden (Maggi), Casey, and Cameron; and her great-grandchildren Sage, Trinity, Marcus, Alaura, Hunter, Alayna, Creedence, and the newest addition, Bohdi. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
