Lorraine Haines Smith

Lorraine Smith, a longtime member of the Eastern Star in Sunderland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Extendicare Nursing Home in Lindsay at the age of 89. Born Lorraine Haines, she was the beloved wife of Isaac Smith of Lindsay. Together they shared a life that took them from Newfoundland and Toronto to Ajax, Saintfield, and finally Lindsay.

Loving mother to Cathie and her husband Bruce Turner of Bracebridge, Larry and his wife Angie of Bobcaygeon, Robert and his wife Dawn of Port Perry, Colin (deceased) and his wife Donna of Calgary, and Danny and his wife Jacalyn of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She was a cherished grandmother to Rebecca Butcher, Ryan (Teresa), Tyler (Sarah), Jason, Brittney, Meghan, Amy, Jesse, and Joesiah Smith, and a proud great-grandmother to Ness and Finley Butcher, Karys, Brayden, Hunter, Grant, Ethane, and Parks Smith. She is also survived by her dear sister June Trentadue and her husband Marc of Toronto, along with many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was predeceased by her brothers Gordon, Dennis, and Colin, her grandson Bobby, and her sister-in-law Ruth Haines. She will be remembered with great affection by all whose lives she touched through her quiet strength and enduring love for her family.
