Lorraine G. Vezina

Lorraine G. Vezina of Mahopac, New York, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Peekskill, New York, on December 14, 1932, to John and Florence Galati, she graduated from Peekskill High School in 1950. She went on to attend the State Teachers College at New Paltz, where she was a member of the Alpha Kappa Phi fraternity.

Lorraine dedicated her career to education, first teaching Braille to students in the Hendrick Hudson, Lakeland, and Peekskill school districts. She later taught for 25 years in the Mahopac Elementary School system. Throughout her teaching years, she remained an active member of the American Association of University Women. After retiring, she and her husband, Donald, enjoyed time together as members of the Peekskill Yacht Club.

She is survived by her three sons, Donald W. Vezina Jr. and his wife Nannette of Peekskill, Richard W. Vezina and his wife Patti of Purdys, New York, and Rodney J. Vezina of Surfside Beach, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Tyler Vezina, Trevor Vezina, Donald Vezina III, and Melissa; two great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Donald W. Vezina, her four brothers, Salvatore, Joe, Anthony, and Frank Galati, her three sisters, Genevie, Audrey, and Althea, and her sister-in-law Vivien Weiler.
