Lori Michelle Hancock, 59, of Bridgeport, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 23, 1966, in Fort Worth, she graduated from Bridgeport High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University and a master’s degree in Counseling from Southern Oklahoma. Ordained in 2015, Lori dedicated 22 years to education and spent 10 years leading youth groups in churches throughout Wise County. She had a special gift for welcoming children—especially those who felt overlooked—into her care. Four years ago she realized her dream of becoming a high school counselor, touching many lives with her warmth and wisdom.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, John Hancock; her sons Tyler Hannah, Tanner Hannah, and Tully Hannah; her daughters Daneyl Walker and Keila Butler; and her beloved grandchildren James, Miles, Emma, Kaylee, Zoe, Ava, and Hannah. Lori is also survived by her father Michael Paul Stark and wife Lavonne, her mother Sandra Townsend, her aunt Deanne Hughes, her cousin Shawn Hughes, her father-in-law Loyd Hancock and partner Margaret, her nephew Hunter Stark, and her children’s father Brian Hannah, as well as her dear friend Kim Barnes.

She was preceded in death by her brother Michael Paul Stark Jr., her uncle Nick Hughes, and her mother-in-law Shirley Hancock.

Family and friends will always remember Lori for her boundless compassion, her infectious laugh, and her simple motto: “Just be nice.”
