Loretta Schlitter
Milton, DE
Loretta Schlitter, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 93 in Georgetown, Delaware. Born on January 17, 1933, in Milton, Delaware, she remained a lifelong resident of Milton and lived as a shining example of faith, love, and devotion.
A dedicated Christian, Loretta embraced her faith with strength and grace. She found deep fulfillment in the Keenagers Ministry, where she shared her beliefs and companionship with senior citizens in her community. Her love for family was evident in all she did. She balanced her work with the cherished roles of nurturing mother and grandmother, treasuring every moment spent with those she held dear.
Loretta is survived by her loving son, Michael Schlitter and his wife Kathy; her siblings, Franklin Reed and his wife Clara, and Helen Reed Walls; and her grandchildren: Ashley Webb and her husband John, along with their children Clover and Drake; Matthew Schlitter and his wife Erica, together with their children Simon and Charlotte; and Michael Schlitter Jr. and his wife Nyrel, who have graced her life with Finn and Piper. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply. A passionate bowler, she enjoyed the camaraderie the sport brought her, and she was a proud member of the Milton American Legion Post, where she contributed her time and energy to her community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony J. Schlitter, and by two sisters, Lilian and Barbara. Loretta’s spirit of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
