Lonnie “Brute” Robinson, 77, of New Allen, Kentucky, formerly of Martin, passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Floyd County on January 7, 1949, he was the tenth child of the late Olva “Ollie” Robinson and Mollie Goodman Robinson. He shared 54 devoted years of marriage with his wife, Karon Wireman Robinson.
After many years working as a coal miner, Lonnie retired from the Maintenance Department of the Floyd County Board of Education. He had a lifelong love of sports, especially golf, which brought him great pleasure in his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife Karon; three sons, Stuart (Sherry) Robinson of Langley, Toby Robinson of Allen, and Kevin (Leslie) Robinson of Senoia, Georgia; and one daughter, Lauren (Andrew) Lewis of Prestonsburg. Lonnie was a cherished Pappy to seven grandchildren—Clinton (Jaimie) Turner, Leigh (Chadd) Williams-Daniels, Kendal Robinson, Lindsey Robinson, Daniel Lewis, Maci Lewis, and Benji Lewis—who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brothers Claude “Mugsy” Robinson, James “Red” Robinson, and Ricky “Shin” Robinson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Lonnie was a good man who loved his family deeply and took pride in the life he built with them. He will be greatly missed and warmly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
