Lonia Leona Hancock of Southport, Florida, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Marianna, Florida, on July 18, 1941, she lived a life centered on her deep love for family.
A devoted homemaker, Lonia dedicated herself to caring for those she loved. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking memorable meals for them, tending her beautiful roses, and enjoying peaceful days fishing. Her warm presence and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William David Hancock; her parents, Ira Brown Mayo and Susie Elizabeth Sexton-Mayo; her children, Susie Lyczskowski and William Amos Hancock; four brothers and two sisters; her daughter-in-law, Sue Hancock; and her son-in-law, Ed Pulliam.
Lonia is survived by her daughters, Linda Dodehoff (Chandler), Brenda Pulliam (Ken), and Diane Wright (Bud); her sons, Ira Hancock and Will Hancock (Dana); 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Wallace Mayo; her sister, Bessie Collins (Bill); her sisters-in-law, Barbara Hussey (Earl), Joann Smith, and Ilah Jackson; her special neighbors Penny Dance and Angie Thompson and husband; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
