Lona Sutton ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home on Mar. 9, 2026.Lona "Susie" Sutton August 20, 1949 – March 6, 2026Susie Sutton left this world the way she lived in it - surrounded by the people she loved. She passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 76.Born in Louisville to Glenn and Violet Felton, Susie grew up in a full and lively household alongside her siblings Joyce Ann, Eddie, and Carla, and later her stepsiblings Butch, Garnett, Joyce, Sandra, Ricky, and Robin. She graduated from Ahrens Trade School in 1968, and in the 1970s welcomed her two children, Tammy and Matt, into the world.Susie had a gift for bringing warmth to everything she touched. She co-owned Sutton's Market in the Taylor Berry neighborhood - exactly the kind of place you'd expect Susie to run: warm, welcoming, and full of personality. She carried that same energy into every workplace that was lucky enough to have her, including the Fraternal Order of Police, before finishing her career at the Jefferson County Circuit Court, where she retired in 2013.She was the person who always had a joke ready (and delivered it with that big, rolling laugh). She was the one who kept tabs on everyone, checked in just to say hello, and made sure nobody felt forgotten. She never met a stranger. Her home was always open. Her love was always big.Retirement suited her perfectly. She filled those years with her grandchildren Alyssa and Luke, road trips, visits with friends and family, and yes - her beloved cats. She stayed active on Facebook not to scroll, but to connect, share a laugh, and remind people she was thinking of them.Susie was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Violet; and her siblings Joyce Ann Rose, Eddie Felton, Carla Felton, Butch Jackson, Garnett Jackson, Joyce Moberly, and Sandra Schaffer. She is survived by her children Tammy (Mark) Sutton and Matthew (Theresa) Sutton; her grandchildren Alyssa (Geoffrey) Bonning and Luke (Medley) Sutton; her siblings Ricky Jackson and Robin Stang; and a houseful of fur babies who adored her.A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday March 12th, 2026, at Ratterman Southwest, 4832 Cane Run Road, followed by burial at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2–7 p.m. on Wednesday March 11th, 2026, and the world is quieter without her.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
