Lola Sylvia Martin

March 17, 1938 March 12, 2026

North English, IA

Lola Sylvia Martin was born on March 17, 1938, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of James Clarence and Chloe (Geyer) Morrison. She attended grade school in Vinton, graduated from Atlantic High School, and later from Kirkwood. On January 21, 1961, she married Edward Levern Martin in Wellman. The couple lived north of Wellman until 1984, then made their home in the Truman Lake area of Missouri, Green Top, Missouri, Oskaloosa, North Liberty, and finally North English.

Lola worked at various jobs throughout her life, always willing to do what was needed, and was affectionately known as a Professional Community Servant. A longtime member of the North English Christian Church, she found joy in traveling, playing cards, quilting, spending time at the family cabin in Wisconsin, weekly bingo games in Marengo, and volunteering—especially at the North English Community Center. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family.

Lola died on March 12, 2026, at her home in North English, at the age of 87. She is survived by her daughters, Laurie (David) Johnson of Granger and Karri Fisher of Wellman; nine grandchildren, Aaron (Anna) Rosenberger, Krissi Pierce, Andy (Courtney) Rosenberger, Cameron (Chanelle) Johnson, Kylee (Craig) Snyder, Kassi (Mitch) Thomann, Tristen (Chelsie) Fisher, Trent (Liz Donohoe) Fisher, and Mary Taylor; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, a son Kole Deric Martin, a daughter Kayleen Rose Martin, a son-in-law Terry Fisher, and three brothers, James L. Morrison, Harold Morrison, and Leonard Morrison.
