Lola Mae Edington Clark

April 22, 1939 March 12, 2026

Brownstown, IN

Lola Mae Edington Clark, age 86, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Hoosier Health & Living in Brownstown, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 22, 1939, in Spraytown, Lola was the daughter of Bertis and Blanche (Altemeyer) Burns. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of Mountain Baptist Church with her first husband, Paul, and later attended Houston Christian Church with her husband Jack. She found great joy in singing in church choirs throughout the area and in performing with several gospel groups, where she sang and played bass guitar.

Lola and her late husband Paul owned and operated the Edington Grocery Store in Spraytown from 1969 to 1975. She later worked as a secretary at Cosco in Columbus and spent many years warmly greeting visitors as a receptionist at Voss Funeral Service in Seymour. Above all, family was the center of Lola’s world. She was a humble, kind, and generous soul with a heart of gold who always placed others before herself and remained ready to help anyone in need. She shared a special passion for horseback riding with Paul and cherished the music that filled her life.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Clark of Brownstown; one son, Tim Edington of Freetown; one daughter, Patsy Killey (Marcus) Hess of Brownstown; seven grandchildren, Nick (Lyndsay) Hudson, Natalie (Ben) Velzen, Noah (Elizabeth) Killey, Cindy Edington, Kayla Hinderlider, Orlanda (James) Dillman, and Steven (Cindy) Wynn; eight great-grandchildren, Mason Hudson, Sutton Hudson, Porter Hudson, Theo Velzen, Eleanor Mae (Nellie) Velzen, Emily Dillman, Cooper Dillman, and Mya Wynn; and sister-in-law Phyllis Edington. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Franklin Edington, whom she married on January 17, 1961, in Freetown, and who passed away on September 9, 2011; a son-in-law, Mark Killey; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Edington; her brother, Kenny Burns; her sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Howard “Chub” Ault; her brother and sister-in-law, Tommie and Jane Edington; and her brother-in-law, Oley Edington.
