Norton, age 89, formerly of Massena, NY, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, in Richmond, VA. Lola was born on June 8, 1936, in Babylon, Long Island, NY to Julian and Irene (Norden) Michele. She was a graduate of SUNY in Potsdam, NY and taught in elementary and nursery schools in Massena, NY and Richmond, VA. Lola married James Norton on August 16, 1958, in Babylon, NY. She was active in music all her life, singing in various groups and playing the church piano and organ. Lola was also a volunteer musician at nursing homes and taught private piano lessons. Most recently, Lola enjoyed directing the Vintage Vocals chorus at Tuckahoe Pines RLC where she resided. Through church friends, Lola discerned a vocation to become an associate member in the Servants of Mary which she found to be a positive influence in her spiritual journey.Lola was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, James "Jim" B. Norton of Massena, NY, and her brother John Robert "Bob" Michele of Babylon, NY. Lola is survived by her children, Thomas Norton and his wife Catherine Norton of Richmond, VA, and Julia Page and her husband Stephen Page of Montpelier, VT; grandchildren, Sara Norton Adams and Mary Margaret Bender; great-grandchildren, Levi Wilson, Grant Verry and Mary Therese "Molly" Bender; and several nieces and nephews.Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial for Lola will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at 9505 Gayton Rd, Richmond, VA 23229 with a reception to follow.
