Lola D. Hughes

Lola D. Hughes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at her home in Lake Wales. Born on April 10, 1947, in Greensboro, North Carolina, she moved to Lake Wales as a child. She worked as an Inventory Control Specialist for Florida Natural until her retirement.

Lola cherished every moment spent with her family. She was a devoted supporter of the Florida Gators and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. She found great joy in hosting cookouts by the pool and taking family trips to the Florida Keys, creating lasting memories with those she loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Whitcomb of Lake Wales; her brothers, Ernest Manning and Dorman Manning, both of Frostproof; grandchildren Matthew Cox and wife Heather, Tiffany Ratner and husband Jason, Kelsey Oller and fiancé Jeffrey Grondin, Kaley Oller and partner Andrew Rollins, John Bullard, Jr. and wife Kelly, and Tony Bullard and companion Kortni Minotaur; and great-grandchildren Paisley Cox, Jackson Shoemaker, Bailey Shoemaker, Oren Ratner, Derrick Bullard, Noralynn Grondin, and Zev Minotaur. Lola was preceded in death by her son, John Bullard, who passed in 2012. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
