Lola Augusta Ullfig

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lola Augusta Hetzer Ullfig, died on March 14, 2026, after a short illness. She lived a full 95 years.Lola was the heart of our childhood home and of all the later homes of her children and grandchildren. She raised four children, Jorge, Haydee, Noemi and Roberto in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. Her grandchildren are Michelle, Nicholas, Sylvia and Rosana and her four beautiful great-grandchildren, Liam, Freya, Ofelia and Benicio.Lola was born during past times that we could not even imagine, almost a century ago in 1930! Her place of birth was out in the countryside of the province of Santa Fe, Argentina in a small home with pressed mud floors, surrounded by wheat fields and cows. She attended a one-room schoolhouse with her siblings. During her formative years, the primary and most cost-effective means of transportation available were trains as well as horse-drawn carriages. Most homes didn't have electric lighting, only kerosene lamps and unpaved streets.Lola was married for 50 years to Ernesto Carlos Ullfig, who preceded her in death. Together with her husband Ernesto and her children, Jorge, Haydee and Noemi, she emigrated from Argentina to the United States in the early 1960's. Shortly after arrival, her fourth child, Roberto was born in Chicago.Working as a professional seamstress and tailoring skills enhanced the family income throughout the years, while still being able to raise her four children with love and devotion.After her husband's retirement, Lola and Ernesto moved down to Miami from Chicago. There she started her highly creative phase of quilting and crocheting, gifting her many beautiful creations to family members as well as donating her knitted children's scarfs, ensembles, booties and hats to less deserving families. And she never stopped! Her passion for reading made her curious and well-informed, and she frequently shared insights about books, healthy eating, natural remedies and memories from her past.She has now left us to join her husband Ernesto and her son Jorge, who also recently preceded her in death.We will all miss her….._____________________Nuestra querida madre, abuela y bisabuela, Lola Augusta Hetzer Ullfig, falleció el 14 de marzo de 2026, tras una breve enfermedad. Vivió 95 años.Lola fue el alma de nuestro hogar de infancia y de todos los hogares de sus hijos y nietos. Crió a sus cuatro hijos, Jorge, Haydee, Noemi y Roberto, en un hogar feliz y lleno de amor, donde se convirtieron en adultos independientes y reflexivos. Sus nietos son Michelle, Nicholas, Sylvia y Rosana, y sus cuatro bisnietos, Liam, Freya, Ofelia y Benicio.Lola nació en tiempos que ni siquiera podemos imaginar, ¡hace casi un siglo, en 1930! Nació en el campo, en la provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina, en una pequeña casa con pisos de barro, rodeada de campos de trigo y vacas. Asistió a una escuela rural de una sola aula con sus hermanos. Durante su infancia, los principales y más económicos medios de transporte eran los trenes y los carruajes tirados por caballos. La mayoría de las casas no tenían luz eléctrica, solo lámparas de queroseno y calles sin pavimentar.Lola estuvo casada durante 50 años con Ernesto Carlos Ullfig, quien falleció antes que ella. Junto con su esposo Ernesto y sus hijos, Jorge, Haydee y Noemi, emigró de Argentina a Estados Unidos a principios de la década de 1960. Poco después de su llegada, nació su cuarto hijo, Roberto, en Chicago.Su trabajo como costurera profesional y sus habilidades de sastrería mejoraron los ingresos familiares a lo largo de los años, sin dejar de criar a sus cuatro hijos con amor y dedicación.Tras la jubilación de su esposo, Lola y Ernesto se mudaron de Chicago a Miami. Allí comenzó su etapa más creativa de acolchado y ganchillo, regalando sus hermosas creaciones a familiares y donando bufandas, conjuntos, patucos y gorros tejidos a mano para niños a familias necesitadas. ¡Y nunca dejó de hacerlo! Su pasión por la lectura la hizo curiosa y culta, y con frecuencia compartía reflexiones sobre libros, alimentación saludable, remedios naturales y recuerdos de su pasado.Ahora nos ha dejado para reunirse con su esposo Ernesto y su hijo Jorge, quien también falleció recientemente.Todos la extrañaremos…
