Lois Staresina

June 23, 1939 March 12, 2026

Danville, IN

Lois Mae Staresina, née Herbert, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished. Born on June 23, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Roland and Catherine (Ricke) Herbert, she grew up in the Westlake area and attended St. Joseph’s Academy.

She met Kenneth Staresina at a party through a mutual friend, and their connection blossomed into a devoted partnership. They married on May 14, 1960, and shared 66 years of marriage, creating a home grounded in love, faith, and family. Together they lived in Gary, Griffith, and Merrillville, Indiana, as well as Ypsilanti, Michigan, before retiring to Danville, Indiana, to be near their loved ones.

Lois devoted herself to raising her children and caring for her family. In her later years she found special joy in time spent with her granddaughters. She took pride in her home and gardens, finding peace in the outdoors and in tending her flowers. She enjoyed antiquing, shopping, and reading, and was known for her quiet wisdom and gentle presence. For the past twenty years she was a faithful member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Warren Herbert, Denise Mraz, Russell Herbert, and Karen Lime. Lois is survived by her husband of 66 years, Kenneth Staresina; her children, Kevin Staresina of Saline, Michigan, Raymond (Becky) Staresina of Franklin, Ohio, and Sandy (Michael) Meade of Brownsburg, Indiana; her grandchildren, Nicolette (Michael) Scannell, Jacquelyn Meade, and Mackenzie Meade; and her great-granddaughter, Sophia. She will be remembered for her deep love of family, her pride in home and garden, and the steady kindness she offered to all who knew her.
