Coats, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on March 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength and unwavering love. Born on June 20, 1954, to Emma Lee Bridgman and the late Frank Bridgman, Lois spent her life dedicated to her family and community.In 1977, Lois married the love of her life, Vernon Coats. Their 48-year union was built on a foundation of devotion and was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Monica and Misty. Lois was a wonderful and caring wife and mother who never allowed her health challenges to dampen her spirit. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her motivation to keep fighting. Throughout her journey, her spirit remained strong even as her earthly body grew weak.Lois took great pride in her work and education. She later found her true calling in caregiving and retired from Medical Team Care as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she touched many lives with her compassion.She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Bridgman, and two brothers, Larry Barnes and Bennie Barnes.Lois leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Vernon Coats; her beloved daughters, Monica (Richard) Powell and Misty Coats; her mother, Emma Lee Bridgman; and her brother, Billy D. Barnes. Her joy lives on through her three grandchildren, Wesley Woods, Derrick Washington Jr., and London Washington, as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends.A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11am, at North Star Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
