Lois Kay "Schroeder" Foster

Lois Kay "Schroeder" Foster

August 13, 1937 March 8, 2026

Princeton, IN

Lois Kay (Schroeder) Foster, 88, of Princeton, Indiana, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at West River Health Campus in Evansville.

Born on August 13, 1937, in Cowling, Illinois, to Shelley and Emily (Cowling) Schroeder, Kay graduated high school before attending Lockyear’s Business College. She was among the first employees hired at the new Alcoa plant in Warrick County. She married John G. Foster on December 9, 1961, and together they raised two children. Later in life, she returned to work at the Gibson County Division of Family and Children, where she remained until her retirement.

An avid reader, Kay’s deep connection to the library led her to become an active member of Friends of the Library and a dedicated volunteer in their Adult Literacy Program. She took special pride in teaching a local resident to read. She was also an enthusiastic participant in several bridge clubs, the Lady Elks, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Kay loved to travel and created many cherished memories on trips across the United States and abroad with friends and family.

Above all, she delighted in her role as “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She faithfully supported their every activity and opened her home with warmth and generosity to generations of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Her beautiful smile, ready laughter, and seemingly ageless carefree spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Grant) LaMar of Princeton; daughter-in-law, Kristi Foster of Nehalem, Oregon; granddaughter, Emily (Jason) Satterfield of Princeton; grandson, Cory (Hannah) Fougnies of Hazleton; seven great-grandchildren, Shelby and Andy Satterfield, Landon, Carson, Westin, and Baylor Fougnies, and Kimber Caringer; her brother, Richard T. Schroeder of Cowling, Illinois; sister-in-law, Peggy (Foster) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Doyle Schroeder; many brothers and sisters-in-law; her beloved husband of nearly 48 years, John; and her son, John Gregory Foster.
