Lois Hellerud ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory - McAlester on Mar. 9, 2026.Lois Marie (Egge) Hellerud, 79, of Stuart, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, in McAlester, Oklahoma.At Lois's request, no formal services will be held. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.Lois was born on July 7, 1946, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Clarence and Ruby (Egge) Egge. She graduated from high school in Fargo and later earned her associate's degree while living in Los Angeles, California. Lois devoted much of her life to caring for and helping others. She worked for several years as a special education teaching assistant at Woodlawn Elementary School and later continued her work with special needs children at a group home in Redding, California, while residing in Weed, California.Family meant everything to Lois. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. In 2014, as her health began to decline, Lois moved to Stuart, Oklahoma, where she lived with her son Patrick and daughter-in-law, Anna, who lovingly cared for her.She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruby Egge; her brother, Roger Egge; sister, Sandy Scheidegger and her sister-in-law, Brenda Egge.Lois is survived by her sons, Dean Hellerud of Michigan, Patrick Hellerud and wife Anna of Oklahoma, and Wesley Hellerud of California; her grandchildren, Kelina Hellerud and Jesse Lalli, Virginia Sweet and husband Jeremy, Drew Hellerud, Bradley Hellerud, and Alexis Kelty and husband John; six great-grandchildren; her brothers, David Egge and wife Judy and Dwayne Egge; her special sister, Dorine Egge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.Lois will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
