Lois Christianson, 95, of Rochester, passed away on March 8, 2026.
Born Lois Jean Blexrud on November 25, 1930, in Caledonia, Minnesota, to Knute and Gertie Blexrud, she grew up on a family farm near Spring Grove. After graduating from Spring Grove High School, she worked at the local bank while her high school sweetheart, Luverne “Chris” Christianson, served in the U.S. Navy and was deployed to Japan. The couple married on December 26, 1953, in Spring Grove. Soon afterward, Lois traveled by Navy cargo vessel to join Chris in Yokosuka, Japan, where she formed many lifelong friendships with other Navy wives. In 1956, Lois and Chris returned to the United States with their first daughter. They settled in Rochester in 1959 and remained there for the rest of their lives. They were lifelong members of Zumbro Lutheran Church.
Lois worked for the Rochester school district for more than twenty years, retiring from John Marshall High School in 1991. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished traveling, spending time with family and friends, watching the Minnesota Vikings every Sunday during football season, and playing cards.
She is survived by her three daughters, Marcia (Dave) O’Brien, Debbie (Brad) Brodsho, and Greta (Tim) Johnson; six grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Chris, her parents, and her siblings.
