She was born on February 5, 1939 in Gladwin, Michigan, to Sherman and Doris (Cameron) Bruner.At the center of Lois' life was the love of her life, Thomas Bonham. They were married on June 28, 1957, in Clare, MI, and shared 68 years of unwavering love, partnership, and devotion. Together, they built a life rooted in commitment, laughter, and shared adventures.Lois worked for Midland Public Schools as a bus driver for special needs students.She enjoyed gardening and birdwatching, and especially loved spotting hummingbirds on her backyard feeders. She loved crafting and working with her hands, weaving baskets, and knitting and crocheting many blankets and outfits for her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, taking a nice, long drive through the countryside, going out to breakfast, and spending time with family and friends. Lois was a great cook, and a classic midwest mom and grandma - she made sure that no one ever left her house hungry! In her later years, she became an avid Detroit sports fan, and especially loved watching Tigers and Lions games. Lois was strong, hardworking, soft-spoken, generous, loving, and kindhearted.Lois cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Scott (Sandy) Bonham and Lori (Kim) Hohisel; her beloved grandchildren, Jenny, Aubrey, Jake (Camille), Kaitlyn, and Shay; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Emerson, and Emilie. She is also survived and loved by several nieces and nephews.Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents, Sherman and Doris Bruner; sister, Sherry (Warren) Keiser; brother, Ron Switzer; son, Steven Bonham; grandson, Clark Bonham; in-laws Melvin and Elizabeth Bonham; two brothers-in-law, Marvin (Bonna) and Ron (Joyce) Bonham; and sister-in-law, Linda (Paul) Clapp.Lois will be remembered for her kind heart and quiet strength, her deep and steadfast love for Tom and unwavering dedication to her family, and the simple joys that brought her happiness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.A cremation has taken place per her wishes and a memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on March 19, 2026 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with Pastor Don Duford officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00pm until time of service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Larkin Township Cemetery in Midland, MI.In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Children's, or the Midland County 4-H Council.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
