Lisa Sawyers, 59, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on March 6, 2026. Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 HWY 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606, on March 13, 2026, at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at Elmwood Funeral Home Family Center. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Lisa's life and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
Lisa was born in Abilene, Texas, on January 28,1967 to Joe and Sharon Crawford, Lisa was a warm-hearted soul who dedicated her life to uplifting others and serving her community.Lisa married the love of her life, Don Sawyers, on September 24, 2004. Together, they created a strong foundation built on love, faith, and a shared mission to help those in need. Lisa was the anchor of her family, always offering a listening ear and a compassionate spirit.A passionate advocate for the vulnerable, Lisa founded the Hittin Streets Ministry, where she tirelessly served the homeless community, sharing the gospel, paying rent for the less fortunate, and even providing cars for those in desperate need. Her kindness extended to creating crocheted beanies for the homeless, a testament to her belief in warm hearts and warm heads.Lisa is survived by her devoted husband, Don Sawyers, her mother, Sharon Duke, daughters Heather Sawyers and spouse Travis, Keirsten Whisenhunt and spouse Joe, Hailey Schneider and spouse Joe; sons Casey Benson, Ryder Sawyers and wife Sara. Grandchildren, Stormy Rister, Paxton Rister, Skylar Whisenhunt, Addy Ronje, Saydie Schneider, Lily Richardson, Parker Rister, Avery Schneider, Ramy Rister, Travis Rister, Scarlett Sawyers, Joseph Whisenhunt, Jr., and Joseph Schnieder IV; siblings, Randa Jovanovich and spouse John, Rebekah Lewis and spouse Dale, Doulgas McLaughlin and Deborah Altman, nephews Justin Williamson and Tristen Allen. She also leaves behind countless friends who were touched by her generosity and compassion.
She is preceded in death by her father, brother David Crawford and grandparents, Cecil and Faith Bellew. In honoring Lisa's legacy, we encourage all who knew her to continue her mission of love and service to others, reflecting her light in the world. She will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
