Lisa Sawyers

Lisa Sawyers, 59, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Abilene on January 28, 1967, to Joe and Sharon Crawford, Lisa was a warm-hearted woman who devoted her life to uplifting others and serving her community. She married the love of her life, Don Sawyers, on September 24, 2004, and together they built a strong foundation rooted in love, faith, and a shared commitment to helping those in need.

Lisa served as the steadfast anchor of her family, always ready with a listening ear and a compassionate spirit. A passionate advocate for the vulnerable, she founded the Hittin Streets Ministry, where she tirelessly served the homeless by sharing the gospel, paying rent for those in need, providing cars to individuals in desperate situations, and crocheting beanies as small but meaningful gestures of care. Her generosity and kindness touched countless lives.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Don Sawyers; her mother, Sharon Duke; daughters Heather Sawyers and spouse Travis, Keirsten Whisenhunt and spouse Joe, and Hailey Schneider and spouse Joe; sons Casey Benson, Ryder Sawyers and wife Sara; grandchildren Stormy Rister, Paxton Rister, Skylar Whisenhunt, Addy Ronje, Saydie Schneider, Lily Richardson, Parker Rister, Avery Schneider, Ramy Rister, Travis Rister, Scarlett Sawyers, Joseph Whisenhunt, Jr., and Joseph Schneider IV; siblings Randa Jovanovich and spouse John, Rebekah Lewis and spouse Dale, Douglas McLaughlin, and Deborah Altman; and nephews Justin Williamson and Tristen Allen. She also leaves behind many friends whose lives were enriched by her compassion.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, her brother David Crawford, and her grandparents Cecil and Faith Bellew.
