Sumter, SC
Linzie Dawn Lewis, 36, of Sumter, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center. Born in Frimley, England, she was the daughter of Phillip and Tracy Wood Burson.
A warm and loving soul, Linzie accepted others with grace and patience, embracing their faults while showing them unconditional love through her hospitality and cooking. She was renowned among family and friends for her culinary gifts, bringing flavors from her English heritage into their lives with beloved dishes such as Scotch eggs, trifle, banoffee pie, sausage rolls, and her signature sausage-stuffed bacon-wrapped turkey. She also delighted many with Japanese-inspired meals like ton katsudon and chicken curry.
Linzie was deeply proud of her husband, Richard Murrell Lewis III, and supported him as they moved together from England to South Dakota, then to Japan, back to South Dakota, and finally to South Carolina. She was excited to begin the next chapter of their life together as Rick prepared to transition to civilian life in June 2026.
She is survived by her husband of more than 17 years, Richard; daughters Jean-Marie and Arrietta; parents Tracy and Phillip William Burson; brother Joshua Meldrum; father-in-law Richard Lewis Jr.; mother- and father-in-law Marianne and Harvey Capellen; siblings-in-law Houston (Heather) Capellen, Brandon Lewis, and Trevor (Brandi) Lewis; niece Paizlee; and a wide circle of adopted friends from around the world. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert “Bob” and Jean-Maurine Wood, her mother-in-law Jennifer Lewis, and her grandfather-in-law Victor Booth Jr.
