Scheffler, 82, passed away peacefully March 3rd, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.Linda was born on February 27, 1944, in San Francisco, California. She later attended the University of Santa Barbara, where she began building the life that would be centered around family, dedication, and service to others.Mrs. Scheffler worked as a substitute teacher, a profession that brought her great joy and fulfillment. It also allowed her to be present for what mattered most to her: supporting her children in their sports, school events, and activities. She was known as the loudest and most enthusiastic cheerleader any child could ever have, always encouraging and supporting those she loved. As the devoted wife of a member of the United States Marine Corps, Linda had a remarkable gift for making every place the military sent their family feel like home. Her warmth, resilience, and caring spirit created a sense of comfort and belonging wherever life took them. On March 6, 1971, she married her devoted husband, William Scheffler, beginning a partnership that spanned decades of love, family, and shared memories. Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a proud grandmother.Left to cherish memory is : her loving husband of over 50 years, William Scheffler; daughters, Andrea L. Volland and her husband, Paul Volland, and their son, William Volland; and Karen A. Scheffler. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Foley; her father, Louis Knudsen; and her stepfather, Wycliff Foley, whom Andrea and Karen lovingly knew as their grandfather.The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Baylake Retirement and Assisted Living for their unwavering compassion, care, and support for Linda and for the entire family.A celebration of Mrs. Scheffler's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11th, 2025 at Bayside Christian Church. Mrs. Scheffler will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund in Linda's memory.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
