Linda Irizarry ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2026.Linda Rose (Ainsworth) Irizarry, cherished mother, daughter and sister, passed away on 7 February 2026 at the age of 84. Born 3 May 1941 in Mize Mississippi. Linda met her husband at Lackland Air Force Base where they later married in Geronimo Texas.Linda's early life was deeply influenced by her military family. Her father, Joseph T. Ainsworth, was a decorated WWII veteran, and Lind's mother, Effie Jones Ainsworth, was cherished by her seven children. Linda's husband also served over twenty years in the Air Force. Their military journey wasn't a hardship but an adventure, taking them and their two children to countries like Japan and Italy, creating many memories. While her husband was serving in Vietnam, Linda as a single parent worked on her professional career, first working as an administrator of debt collector at Woolco department store until it closed. She then took her talents to Target in San Antonio where she quickly rose through the ranks and became the Human Resource Manager. Her dedication and natural leadership qualities were evident as she traveled extensively, helping to open new stores from Texas to Florida. She methodically selected future department store leaders. Her frequent visits to Target's Headquarters underscored the high regard in which she was held by the Senior Target Executives.Beyond her professional achievements, Linda's most profound work was her unwavering commitment to helping others. Even while working full-time and raising her children, her heart remained open to helping others. In Japan and Italy, she was awarded the volunteer service recipient of the year. Upon returning to the United States from overseas she became a Red Cross Volunteer. She dedicated time to various charities such as Catholic Daughters of America, the Pilgrims Center of Hope, and supporting the people of Bethlehem by selling Olive Wood (she was called the "olive wood lady").Upon early retirement due to health reasons, Linda and her husband embraced the open road, traveling across the United States. She also traveled to foreign countries, including Argentina, China, Greece, France, London, Germany, Jerusalem, and Puerto Rico. Although her declining health limited their travels, they created a new chapter of shared memories.Linda's greatest pride and enduring legacy was her family. Her son, Jeffery, daughter Cynthia and grandchildren Justin, Joshua, Charles III and Tyler.Linda's spirit lives on in her adored family, in the countless individuals she mentored, and every person she touched in many ways. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever inspire those who knew her.Rosary will be recited Friday, March 13, 2026,10:00AM, followed by the Memorial Mass at 11:00AM at the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church.
