February 28, 1936— March 16, 2026
Brandon, MS
Linda Phillips Thomas passed away peacefully Monday, March 16, 2026, at age 90 due to vascular dementia. She was born Martha Lindell Phillips in Leake County, MS to Woodie and Lucile Phillips Feb. 28, 1936.
Linda married her sweetheart, Billy Buford Thomas in 1955. They celebrated 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2015. She lovingly and diligently cared for him while he endured lung cancer. When he passed away, she often said, “I miss him every day.” Billy and Linda made their home in Jackson, MS where they raised their two sons, Ronald Anthony and Kendall Lane and were active members of Woodville Heights Baptist Church. Later, as empty nesters they relocated to Brandon, MS where they were active in Brandon Baptist Church.
When she was diagnosed with vascular dementia, Ron relocated his mother to Greenville, SC to provide care for her. Our deepest appreciation goes to the staff at The Springs Assisted Living in Simpsonville, SC and to Fountain Inn Post Acute for the loving and devoted care they provided to Linda.
She is survived by her sons, Ron and his wife Margie of Simpsonville, SC, and Ken and his wife Stephanie of Brandon, MS. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amber Burns and her husband Chris of Marietta, GA, Austin Thomas of Raleigh, NC, Haley Thomas and Zachary Thomas of Clinton, MS. She has three great-grandchildren, Katy Ann, Thomas James, and Connor Tucker Burns of Marietta, GA.
Linda loved the Lord, her family, and friends. She was steadfast in her faith. She had a sunny disposition and found joy in the small things. Ron found these sentences she had written and placed in her Bible. “Rainbows are God’s gift of hope and strength.” “Rainbows give us faith in a brighter tomorrow.” She loved working in her garden tending to her many plants and flowers. She and Billy loved their church, made many friends, enjoyed activities, trips and laughs along the way.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Thomas will be laid to rest in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
