Linda Beyer ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Mar. 17, 2026.Linda Marie Beyer, passed in her sleep, early in the morning of February 23, 2026. Linda was born in San Francisco on May 17, 1943, to Salvatore (Sammy) and Frances Salemi. At the age of 10, Linda's family moved to San Mateo. Linda loved roller skating at the Rolladium and competed in pairs roller skating. She attended Mercy High School in Burlingame. Linda was the first in her family on both sides to attend college. She graduated from San Jose State University in 1965 and went on to become an elementary school teacher for Franklin-McKinley School District in San Jose.In 1968, Linda joined the San Jose South Bay Ski Club where she met her husband, Marty Beyer. They were married on August 12, 1972. Linda took a break from teaching when their first child, Michelle, was born in 1976. Their son, Michael, was born in 1978. Linda stayed home to raise their two small children until 1984, when she agreed to get the computer lab up and running at St. Lucy Parish School in Campbell, where her children were now attending school. She got the best of both worlds - she was able to keep the same schedule as her children, while introducing them and all their classmates to the joy of Oregon Trail and the less loved weekly typing tests. In 1999, Linda joined St. Francis Cabrini Parish School in San Jose as a second-grade teacher. She enjoyed being back in the classroom teaching multiple subjects again as well as guiding the students through their First Communion. After 35 years of teaching, she retired in 2007.In retirement, Linda stayed busy volunteering for Sacred Heart Community Service, teaching catechism at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church and later becoming a Eucharistic Minister. In 2020, Linda paused her volunteering to make sure her grandchildren, Viola and Blake, didn't fall behind because they attended 1st grade online. When Linda wasn't volunteering or taking her grandkids on local adventures with Marty, she would meet up with friends for lunches and dinners. Every chance they got, Linda and Marty would sneak away to the mountains where during the day Marty could race down the slopes on skies or horseback and Linda happily hunted down the best video poker machine and the thrill of the jackpot.Linda will be sorely missed by her husband, Marty, their children, Michelle and Michael, son-in-law, Tony, daughter-in-law, Laura, and three grandchildren, Viola, Blake and Teo.All family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda's life in a Memorial Mass on Saturday, April 25th at 10:00 am at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 1522 McCoy Ave., San Jose, California. A reception and celebration of life will follow at Becket Hall, adjacent to the church, from 11:00am – 2:30pm.In lieu of flowers, please send a Memorial contribution, in Linda's name, to Sacred Heart Community Service, 1381 S. 1st St., San Jose, CA 95110.Legacy.com reports daily on death announcements in local communities nationwide.
