Linda Mae Neenan (Loy), age 79, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Mom was born on October 27, 1946, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to A.B. and Evelyn Loy and was the youngest with two older brothers, Kenny and Willis. They adored their younger sister and she adored them. She had an especially close relationship with her mother, so much so that they called each other “sis”. She grew up in Columbia and was proud to be a Kewpie from Hickman High School. She cherished her high school friends and stayed in touch with many of them.

Mom was raised in the Baptist church and regularly played the piano while her father sang at Sunday service. She converted to Catholicism after discovering her love for the Blessed Virgin Mary and the power of praying the rosary. Her faith was extremely important to her, and she lived it every single day. She exemplified the simplicity in our faith- she believed and she loved. Our mother was devoted to the angels and taught us to appreciate their divine support, protection, and comfort. She has earned her wings and we know they are big, bedazzled, and beautiful.

During a dorm mixer at the University of Missouri, she met the love of her life, Michael J. Neenan. It was love at first sight. On June 18, 1966, they married at Sacred Heart Church in Columbia. It was a beautiful sunny day, which would foreshadow their life together. Mom and Dad shared almost 60 wonderful years of marriage, raising their family and creating a home filled with faith, laughter, love, and cherished memories. Their love for each other was unmatched and inspirational up to the very end. Dad spoiled her like a Queen as she so deserved.

It was in Columbia that they met their dear friends Sandy and Jerry Lockett. Their friendship lasted a lifetime, and she treasured the memories they made together on their many trips around the world. Sandy was her soul mate. We are happy they are laughing together again.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother of 8 children - 5 boys and 3 girls. Life was challenging at times with 8 kids; but she showed us how to handle the good and the bad times with grace. She created a secure, warm environment and was our biggest supporter. Mom was a nurturing force and our rock. Her arms were our safe place. She adored our friends and welcomed every one of them with an open heart.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren made her especially proud and brought her incredible joy. She loved supporting their activities, eating ice cream with them, showering them with gifts, teaching them to play the piano or arts and crafts or how to fish, weekends at the lake, beach trips, decorating Christmas cookies, listening to their stories, and most importantly loving on them and making each hug special. Gramma Linda was the best!

Mom was such a wonderful human being and made a lasting loving impression on everyone that knew her. We are all blessed she was in our lives. She will be dearly missed; but she leaves us a legacy of love, respect, strength, and selflessness.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Michael J. Neenan and her children: Louisa (Jeff) Weinrich, Kevin (Lee) Neenan, Andrew (Lara) Neenan, Christy Shively, Sarah (Mike) Mallon, Patrick (Megan) Neenan, and Michael Neenan; her grandchildren: Morgan (Cole) Jurden, Melanie (Nick) Musto, Brady Weinrich, Allison Weinrich, Samantha Shively, Olivia Shively, Lucy Shively, Tyler Shively, Stephen Neenan, Connor Neenan, Daniel Neenan, Kelly Neenan, Quinn Mallon, Avery Mallon, Camryn Mallon, Josh Neenan, Maya Neenan, Chase Neenan; and great-grandchildren: Hudson, Remy, and Maeve Jurden and baby girl Musto expected to make her appearance in June.

She was preceded in death by her parents, (A.B. and Evelyn Loy), her brother (Kenny Loy), her son, (Stephen Neenan), grandsons (Ian Shively and Trevor Weinrich), son-in-law (Ben Shively), and dear friends Sandy and Jerry Lockett.
