May 10, 1950— March 2, 2026
Warren, MI
Linda L. Rumpl, 75, died peacefully with family by her side on Monday, March 2, 2026, in her son’s home in Warren. She was born on May 10, 1950, in Detroit to Louis John and Audrey Mae (Masker) Horvath. She married her childhood sweetheart, Matthew Conrad Rumpl Jr., on March 23, 1974, in California. The couple had met in junior high and shared a devoted marriage until Matthew’s death in 2024.
Linda graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1968 and earned an associate’s degree from Macomb Community College. She worked as an office manager for a general contractor until her retirement. She had a deep love for cooking, reading, and especially gardening. Linda created a stunning backyard floral oasis that became the pride of her neighborhood. Often found barefoot in the garden, she planted flowers and vegetables with remarkable skill and could bring even the most struggling plants back to life.
Outgoing and warm, Linda easily struck up conversations with anyone she met and was always ready to help others, especially her family. She cherished her role as Gram to her grandsons, Matthew and Gavin. Together with her husband, known as Papa, she hosted sleepovers, took the boys on countless trips to the zoo and splash park, and attended every school play, concert, award ceremony, and event, cheering them on with unwavering pride. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Linda is survived by her son, Clint (Katrina) Rumpl; grandsons Matthew Rumpl and Gavin Rumpl; sister Debbie Sheppard; sister-in-law Katherine; and brothers-in-law James, Tony, and Douglas. She was preceded in death by her husband Matthew; sister Laura Sprinstead; and brother-in-law Steve Sheppard.
