Linda Lee Pilcher

1951 — 2026

San Diego, CA

Linda Pilcher was born on April 6, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Leland and Gloria Knapp. Her family moved to California when she was a young girl after her father, who served in the Navy, was transferred there. She later married Dennis Funderburk and became the devoted mother of three sons: Donald, Dennis, and James.

After thirteen years of marriage, Linda and Dennis divorced, and she raised her three boys as a single mother. With remarkable courage and strength, she worked part-time while attending school and caring for her sons. Once she completed her education, she built a successful 27-year career as an eligibility social worker for the County of San Diego.

Linda was a beautiful soul—generous, kind, and gifted with the ability to see beauty in people and situations where others could not. She gave endlessly to those she loved and was a wonderful mother and an even more cherished grandmother. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.

She is survived by her sister Jan, brother John, and sisters Jeannette, Celeste, and Tammy, as well as her sons Donald, Dennis, and James, her grandchildren Daniel, Nina, and Lily, and her great-granddaughter Tula.
