Linda L. Brooks

Linda L. Brooks

Passed March 7, 2026

Grand Rapids, MI

Linda L. Brooks, age 81, recently of Grand Rapids and formerly of Fenton and Linden, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. Born in Caro, Michigan on November 3, 1944, to Paul and Donna Jean Vollmar, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Wayne. She is survived by her daughters, Shellie (Brent) Smith and Diane (Tim) Heger; her sister, Sue (Ralph) Pylman; her grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Hatch, Danielle (Gabe) Gallagher, Derek (Jessica) Smith, Paul (PJ) Heger, and Quinn (Nichole) Smith; her beloved great-granddaughter, Hazel; and Wayne’s children, Suzan (Mike) Fellabaum and Steve (fiancé Kelley) Brooks, along with his six grandchildren and great-grandson.

Linda settled in Flint during her first marriage and later began working at Manufacturer’s Equipment, where she met the love of her life, Wayne. He introduced her to golf, and together they spent many happy years on the courses at Spring Meadows Country Club and The Villages in Florida. On sunny days she was rarely found indoors; she became an accomplished golfer, recording four holes-in-one—three at The Villages and one at Spring Meadows—and celebrated birdies with her foursome using a flask of Fireball she kept in her golf bag. In Florida she also took up rollerblading and pickleball, while in winter she and Wayne enjoyed skiing at Boyne and out west. On quieter days she knitted teddy bears for family, friends, and for Mother Bear, an organization that provided them to children overseas. Her warm presence was often accompanied by a Starbucks frappe or a glass of Pinot Grigio.

Linda’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring team at Hospice of Michigan for their support during her final days. She will be remembered as a vibrant, skilled, and generous woman who filled her life with activity, laughter, and love for those around her.
