LINDA KAY YOAKUM

Linda Kay Messer Yoakum, age 74, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on March 10, 2026. She was born on January 20, 1952, to James “Jim” Messer and Mollie Messer.

Linda embraced life with a heart of gold, always choosing to see the good in others. She offered encouragement through kind words and her gentle smile, touching everyone she met. This same compassion defined her career as a nurse, where she cared for both the emotional and physical needs of those in her charge. A devoted Christian, she found deep joy in reading and studying God’s word, living out the commandment to love one another in all she did.

Above all, Linda cherished her family. She treasured every moment spent together and found special delight in her grandchildren, who were the light of her world. Her warmth, pure joy, and nurturing spirit brightened the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, James “Jim” Messer, her husband George Yoakum Jr., the father of her children Orville Lynn Gulley, and her brother Paul Edward Messer. She is survived by her mother, Mollie Messer; daughter Chasitiy Price and husband Jeremy; sons Thomas Lee Gulley and wife Sharon, and James David Gulley; stepson Andy Yoakum and wife Lisa; sister Jimmie Sue Woods; brother David Milton Messer and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Tennille Smith, Tabitha Fultz, Cadence Brock, Kylie Brock, Samuel Gulley, Zach Gulley, and Jessie Gulley; great-grandchildren Weston Jack Stewart, Levi Brooks Stewart, and Tate Samuel Gulley; aunt Vinnia Lou Messer Warren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss her deeply.
