Linda Hazzard ObituaryVisit the Harrell Funeral Home of Austin website to view the full obituary.Linda Garza Hazzard, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.Born on October 30, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, Linda was the daughter of Alexander and Mary Louise Garza. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 1968, and later attended San Antonio College.Linda spent much of her life in the Houston area, where she built a life grounded in faith, love, and devotion to her family. She recently moved to Kyle, Texas, to be closer to her loved ones, where she found not only comfort in family, but also a wonderful community of friends she lovingly referred to as her "Sage family." She cherished this special group and the joy they brought to her life.She was known for her lively spirit, unwavering strength, and nurturing heart. Linda was strong-willed and steadfast in her beliefs, qualities that carried her through life and inspired those around her. Linda had a flair for fashion and was known for her stylish wardrobe and signature statement jewelry. She was truly the life of the party at every gathering, bringing laughter and energy wherever she went.Her greatest joy was being "Nanny" to her granddaughters-a role she embraced with deep love and pride. She never missed a single event, always showing up with encouragement, presence, and unconditional love. Her devotion was so evident that she became lovingly known as "Nanny" not only to her own family, but to many others who were blessed by her care and warmth.Linda had a true appreciation for life's simple and beautiful moments. She had a green thumb and loved gardening and taking in the beauty of the outdoors. She loved to travel and embraced every opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories. At home, she found joy in playing with her great-grand dogs and shopping, often thinking of others and delighting them with thoughtful gifts and gestures.She dedicated over 20 years of service to SBC Southwestern Bell before retiring and later continued to serve her community through her work with Ashland Chemical and CCISD. Linda was a dedicated volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and looked forward to it every year. Her life was marked by strength, generosity, deep love for her family, and an unwavering faith in God.Linda is survived by her devoted daughter, Wendy Jackson Slaton of Kyle, Texas; her cherished granddaughters, Sarah Slaton of Houston and Caroline Slaton of Austin; her loving sister, Rossanna Garza Slawinski of Tucson, Arizona; and many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and treasured friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Mary Louise Garza; her brothers, Alexander Garza Jr. and David Garza; and her sister, Josephine Garza Linares.Though her family deeply grieves her loss, they find comfort in knowing she is resting in eternal peace.
