November 1, 1947— March 14, 2026
Lake City, AR
Linda Fay Hare, 78, of Lake City, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born on November 1, 1947, in Caraway to Rev. Raymon and Julia Anderson, Linda grew up surrounded by family and faith. A longtime member of Central Baptist Church, she found deep joy in time spent with her children and grandchildren, as well as sharing breakfast with friends at Hardee’s.
For many years she devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom. Later she worked at the shoe factory in Blytheville, then, after returning to Caraway, earned her GED and graduated from cosmetology school in Marked Tree. She worked in several area salons and eventually opened her own beauty shop in her home. Linda was remarkably talented. She sang alto in church and played the piano by ear for services for many years. In the late 1970s she learned to fly, soloing in a Cessna 150 at a time when few women did so. She also cherished trips to the beach and attending Gene Watson concerts with her dear friends Deloris and Sandy.
Linda lived in many places throughout her life, including Caraway, Dell, Gosnell, Harrisburg, Illinois, Little Rock, Manila, and Jonesboro, before settling in Lake City to be near her children. She is survived by her children, Pat McCormick (Derek), Mark Douglas (Jennifer), and Greg Douglas (Ann), all of Lake City; two stepdaughters, Paige Womble (Jody) and Jill Hare, both of Little Rock; two brothers, Gerald Anderson (Connie) and Lonnie Anderson (Susie), both of Caraway; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and one great-great-grandchild; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of six and a half years, Robert Sheldon Hare; her parents; two brothers, Eldon Anderson and David Anderson; one sister, Lena Mae Anderson; and one grandson, Traven Weaver.
