Panama City, FL

Linda Capps, 80, of Panama City, Florida, passed away surrounded by love and family on March 4, 2026, in Grand Ridge, Florida.

Born on August 23, 1945, to Mildred Pearline Kirkland in South Georgia, Linda was raised in Bascom by her mother along with her beloved Uncle Pat and Aunt Beulah. She worked as a bartender for 26 years, where her warmth, style, and listening ear drew people to her and created lifelong friendships she treasured deeply.

Linda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. A devoted fan of The Young and the Restless, she rarely missed an episode, even scheduling her weekly hair appointments around its 11 a.m. time slot. She loved hunting for treasures at thrift stores and yard sales, shopping for good deals, and sharing pedicures with her friend Joe. Her home was always open, filled with food, sweet treats, and candy for the children, especially during holidays. Every grandchild who walked through her door was greeted with a warm “Hey baby” and a hug, and she made sure each one received a special card and a phone call with a song sung just for them.

Though raised as an only child, Linda built a large and loving family that became the center of her world. She was the proud mother of four children, grandmother to ten, great-grandmother to twenty-four, and great-great-grandmother to nine. She was simply “Granny” to all, the heart of a family that grew far beyond its beginnings and will continue to grow with the love she instilled for generations.

Linda was predeceased by her mother, Mildred Pearline Baggett, her children Donna Capps and Randy Capps, and her great-great-grandsons Anthony, Brady, and Brody Taylor. She is survived by her former husband, Bobby Capps, with whom she shared a lasting friendship; her son Scott Capps (Jodi); her daughter Gina Whitmire (Jimmy); grandchildren Shauna Foran (Mark), Lucas Capps (Shannon), Joshua Capps (Stacy), Randee Lin Capps, Brett Capps (Jenn), Shelby Wilson (Joseph), Blake Whitmire, Sabrina Williams (Sa’Voric), Talya Capps, and Kaleb Capps; and many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
