Linda Burch Deprey

March 31, 1950 March 11, 2026

Malta, NY

Linda Burch Deprey of Malta, New York, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital. She was born in Glens Falls, New York, on March 31, 1950, to Arnold Burch and Ethel Bennett Burch. A graduate of Glens Falls High School class of 1968 and BOCES cosmetology school, Linda built a long and varied career. She worked for many years at Zayre and Ames Department Stores, where she was beloved by her colleagues, and later served as an Assessment Clerk for the Town of Malta. She often held multiple jobs at once and liked to say her dream occupations would have been stand-up comedian or heavy equipment operator.

Linda was known for her loving spirit, kind heart, and boundless generosity. She was always doing for others, whether through cooking, sewing, crafting, or simply being there when someone needed help. Many children received her beautiful, handmade, personalized quilts as gifts.

She is survived by her significant other, Don Grant; her son, John Kovach; her daughter, Meredith Kovach Brayton; her brother, John Burch (Linda); her sisters, Barbara Fitzgerald (Barry) and Sally Washburn (Brian); her beloved fur babies, Bianca and Coco; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cared for as a second mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph “Mel” Deprey; her son, Steven Kovach; her sister, Sharon King; her brother, Edward Bennett; her nephews, Michael Cottrell and David Bennett; her niece, Ann Brown; and her cherished fur babies, Jake and the famous McDougall.
