Lillian Paulette Hartsfield Scott was born on March 1, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Jetta Hartsfield Moore and Joseph Herring Sr. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, she graduated from Jean Ribault Senior High School with the Class of 1972. She continued her education at Florida Junior College and Edward Waters College, earning an Associate degree in Sociology, and also attended Roffler Hair Design College.
Paulette had a warm and generous spirit. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, attending festivals and concerts, traveling, and entertaining family and friends. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained active in her faith, singing in the Northside Ensemble and organizing Bible study sessions to guide others. In her professional life, she worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield, spent more than twenty years at Sears Roebuck and Company, and later worked as a seamstress at Maidenform until her retirement. She was married to Leonard “Mooley” Scott Sr.
Paulette passed away on March 2, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard “Mooley” Scott Sr., her parents, two sisters, Barbara Moore and Mary James, and five brothers, Wilbert and Lawrence Moore, and Harold, Willie, and Joseph Jr. Herring.
She is survived by her children, Tyrone Hartsfield, Jetta Scott, and Leonard Scott Jr. (Kimberly); grandchildren Nautica, Traquan, Tyriq, Trey, Tianna Hartsfield, Ja’Leah, Jayde, Cameron, Le’naria, KymMya, Nevaeh, Justice, and Heaven Scott; several great-grandchildren; sisters Linda Wade, Carolyn McNeil (Richard), and Lisa Moore; brothers Harold, Warren, and Robert Moore, Melvin Herring (Geraldine), George Herring, Reggie Herring (Cassandra), Henry Herring (Sylvia), and Keith Herring (Charolette); brother-in-law Chester Scott (Cynthia); sisters-in-law Veralee Mobley (Greg), Lois Ann, and Johnnie Mae Scott; aunt Deloris Rosier; godchildren Wanda and Silas Glee; special friends Ms. Sherry and Vannette Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
