Lillian Rena Boos

October 9, 1932 March 8, 2026

Glasgow, MT

Lillian Rena Boos passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on March 8, 2026, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Montana.

Born on October 9, 1932, in the old log house on Sun Prairie Flat to Sherman and May Grimsley, Lillian grew up on the northeast Montana prairie. That landscape and the enduring pioneer spirit of her community instilled in her a strong work ethic, resilience, and a deep love of people that remained with her throughout her life.

She attended Sun Prairie School through eighth grade, graduated from Malta High School, and continued her studies at Northern Montana College in Havre. Committed to lifelong learning, she later earned her master’s degree in education in 1982. On June 6, 1954, Lillian married Leonard Jerome Boos at Saint Mary’s Church in Malta. The couple lived in the Malta area before settling in Glasgow for several decades, where they raised their three sons, Tony, Ed, and Darcy, while keeping strong ties to Malta.

Lillian was a dedicated educator who taught in rural schools throughout the region for forty years. She brought warmth, discipline, and genuine care to her students, nurturing curiosity, respect, and kindness in countless young lives. Beyond the classroom, she embraced life with creativity and enthusiasm as an avid hunter, seamstress, bowler, sports enthusiast, bread maker, and talented ceramic artist. She lovingly crafted dolls and pottery with friends, was known for her exceptional dill dip, and found great joy as a proud member of the Red Hatters.

Above all, Lillian was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her heart and home were always open, and she had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and cherished. She especially treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy in her later years. Her legacy is one of kindness, warmth, and deep devotion to family and community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Jerome Boos, in 2013; her parents, Sherman and May Grimsley; her sisters, Eva Oxarart and Faye Seel; her brother, David Grimsley; her grandson, Lane Boos; and her great-granddaughters, Kinlee Dennison and Nola Dennison.

Lillian is survived by her sons, Tony Boos, Ed Boos (Kathy), and Darcy Boos; and by her grandchildren: Kent Boos (Carli) and their children, Mya and Grady; Cassie Dennison (Dustin) and their children, Camri and Syri; Kyle Boos (Kirsten) and their children, Libby and Leo; Quintan Boos; Tara Specht (Jared) and their children, Justus and Aspen; Alisha Brewer (Andy) and their daughters, Leah and Scarlet; Kenny Boos (Cami); Chevy Boos (fiancée Piper); Adlee Boos; and Brody Boos. She will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became family through her welcoming ways.
