Lillard Snelson ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary - Maynardville on Mar. 14, 2026.Lillard Steven "Steve" Snelson-age 85 of Luttrell passed away peacefully Friday, March 13, 2026, at UT Medical Center after a fall caused a serious brain injury. Steve served in the U.S. Army and worked public jobs in his younger days, driving asphalt trucks, trash trucks, and worked in offices planning routes. He attended New Testament Baptist Church, Knoxville. For the most part he ran his own business. He moved his family to Houston, Texas and started a Hot Shot Trucking Company, hauling oil drilling parts, he continued this for several years until he decided he wanted to return home. The family came back to Knoxville and after a couple years he and his wife opened a small grocery store in Maynardville. Later on, he added a trash truck and started a local route, the trash company grew quickly, and he closed the store and ran Snelson's Trash Service, in and around Maynardville and the surrounding area.Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth Strader Snelson; sons, Ricky Steven, Michael Wayne, and Thomas Lillard Snelson; daughter, Natasha Hope Snelson; son-in-law, Terry Middleton; grandson, Joshua Snelson; his parents, Roy and Stella Boles Snelson; sister, Shirley Yarber; brother, Robert Bob Snelson.He is survived by his sons, Matthew Snelson (Alli Cook), Daniel Snelson, Jacob Snelson; daughters, Angela Chisum Middleton, Morgan Snelson (David Jansky), Coralee Sterling; brothers, Bill and Jackie Snelson, David Snelson (Pam Allen), Junior Snelson; brothers-in-law, Jack Yarber, Charles Flip Strader, Joe and Zan Hoffart of Colorado, Paul and Gloria Hoffart of Texas; sisters-in-law, Judy Turner of North Carolina, Barbara and Mike Quellhorst of Brazoria, Texas, Kathy and Steve Clark of Magnolia, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Graveside service 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Lynnhurst Cemetery, Knoxville Rev. David McGinnis and Rev. Mike Samples officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:45 P.M. Thursday. Pallbearers: Matthew Snelson, Jacob Snelson, David Jansky, Jeffery Anderton, Jr., Randy Chisum.
