Lewis A Wade
January 31, 1944— March 4, 2026
Sandy, UT
Lewis A. Wade, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Sandy, Utah, following the natural decline of age.
Born on January 31, 1944, in Fillmore, Utah, to Vivian Rowley Wade and Emily Maria Ashby, Lew grew up in Fillmore and graduated from Millard High School. He remained deeply proud of his Millard County roots throughout his life. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard, serving for seven years with quiet pride.
On June 30, 1967, Lew married LeAnn Littlewood in the Manti Temple. Together they built a loving home and shared 58 years of marriage while raising their four daughters. Known for his remarkable ability to fix nearly anything, Lew’s greatest devotion was to his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him profound joy, and he cherished capturing memories through photographs so he could revisit those happy moments.
Lew found simple pleasures in riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping, and golfing, especially when shared with loved ones. He enjoyed a cold Dr Pepper from the gas station, BYU sports, John Wayne movies, puzzles, and his lifelong passion for vintage cars. He loved driving through the neighborhood, greeting neighbors with a friendly hello, and welcoming new families. Family reunions were among his favorite times. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many callings, including ward executive secretary, ward librarian, high priest group leader, primary teacher, cub scout leader, and as a service missionary with LeAnn at the Utah State Prison. He was also a longtime blood donor with the American Red Cross, giving gallons of his O-negative blood and earning recognition as a Blood Donor Hero.
Lew spent much of his career as a building maintenance engineer at the University of Utah, the former JCPenney building, the 185 South State Building, and the Triad Center with Zions Securities Corporation, where he formed many lasting friendships.
He is survived by his wife, LeAnn; his daughters, LuAnn Thaxton (Lance of Kaysville), Nancy Wade (Salt Lake City), Shawna Manning (Sean of Kamas), and Sherrie Eggenberger (Scott of Kanab); 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with four more on the way; and his brother, Reed Wade of Lehi. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Helen, Robert, Betty, and Alton, and great-grandsons Boston and Baylor Thaxton.
Lew’s kindness, service, witty one-liners, warm smile, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
