November 15, 1946— March 11, 2026
Hohenwald, TN
Lestly Charles “LC” Bowen, age 79, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, passed away at his home on March 11, 2026. Born on Cedar Creek in a corn crib on November 15, 1946, to the late Lester Bowen and Vannie Haynes Bowen, he was raised in Flatwoods, Tennessee. A graduate of Perry County High School Class of 1965, he later attended Tennessee Vocational School. On February 21, 1969, he married Wilma Lomax Bowen, and together they shared a devoted and loving marriage of 57 years built on faith, family, and hard work.
LC proudly served in the Tennessee National Guard for 13 years. He worked at DANA Corporation for six years and later with Wallace Poore repairing televisions before opening his own business, Bowen TV, in 1977. The business grew into Bowen Home Center, offering home furniture, appliances, and televisions. This year would have marked 49 years of operation. A forward-thinking entrepreneur, he was among the first in the area to sell and service large satellite television systems and to offer a movie rental club when VCRs became popular. Known for his thorough research and determination, he mastered every product he sold and approached every endeavor with full commitment and a strong work ethic, remaining active in his business until his final days.
Through his work, LC formed many lasting friendships and took genuine joy in knowing the people he served. He was remembered as a wonderful, loving, kind, and giving man. Above all, he cherished his family and especially loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite title was simply “Pa.” In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Bowen; son, Bruce Bowen; daughter, Renae (Greg) Mumaw; sisters, Brenda (Robert) Treadwell and Peggy French; grandchildren, Kaci (Ryan) Shanes, Blake (Kaylie) Bowen, and Brayden Mumaw; great-grandchildren, Piper and Gentry Shanes and Blaine Bowen; and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Dicus, Jewel Powers, and Diane Gay.
