August 6, 1932— February 27, 2026
Bozeman, MT
Lester Clarence Hagenlock was born on August 6, 1932, in Onaka, South Dakota, and passed peacefully on February 27, 2026. The son of Waldemar and Della (Grimm) Hagenlock, he grew up with his seven siblings on a family farm near Seneca, South Dakota, where he graduated from Seneca High School.
Les served two years in the United States Army as a quartermaster before beginning a long career in sales with Gambles, Egberts Boots & Shoes, and Bozeman Furniture. He retired in 2012 and remained an active member of the Bozeman Elks Club for 55 years. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, shuffleboard, and pinochle, as well as reading books and the newspaper, listening to country and older pop music, and following sports. He coached youth baseball and was a devoted fan of football, basketball, and baseball.
Les took great pride in his home in the Gallatin Valley, where he loved watching ducks and golfers from his back deck. He kept the deck fridge stocked and welcomed golfers to help themselves to a cold beverage on hot days. His home became the gathering place for family holidays, where he hosted meals and barbecues with warmth and generosity. Above all, he cherished his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Darrel), Cindy (Dwight), Mark (Leslie), Michael (Sandy), and Patty (Nick); seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His beloved granddaughter Lindsey preceded him in death. Though memory loss brought challenges in his later years, Les remained social and kind until the end, supported by the caring staff at Spring Creek Inn Memory Care in Bozeman.
