December 1, 1958— March 7, 2026
Alexandria, IN
Leslie Rene Frix, 67, of Alexandria, Indiana, formerly of Elgin, Illinois, passed away on March 7, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.
Born on December 1, 1958, in Anderson, Indiana, to Lloyd and Doris (McCarty) Frix, Leslie graduated from Alexandria-Monroe High School with the Class of 1977. Raised in Alexandria First Baptist Church, she embraced a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ that sustained her throughout her life, especially during her illness. Those who knew her saw in Leslie a beautiful reflection of the Savior she loved so dearly. She lived with her eyes fixed on eternity and now rests in the arms of her Lord.
Leslie enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career with American Airlines as a trainer, where she mentored and shaped countless aviation professionals. Her dedication earned her the deep respect and affection of many colleagues, who remained close to her until the end. Yet her greatest joy came from her family. Her children were her heart, and her grandchildren were her entire world. In recent months, she had been filled with joyful anticipation as she prepared to welcome her first great-grandchild, already searching for the perfect gifts to shower on the new arrival.
She is survived by her mother, Doris Frix of Alexandria; her daughter, Megan (Chris) Preston and their children, Christopher, Skylar, and Kaylin Preston, along with a much-anticipated great-grandchild; her son, Erik Matzenbacher and his children, Koen, Peyton, and Finley; her brother, Brent Frix and his children, Jarid and Aubree; uncles Steve Frix, Dan McCarty, and Jack King; and several cousins and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Frix, in 2006, and several other beloved family members.
A graveside service at Park View Cemetery in Alexandria will be held at the convenience of the family later this spring or early summer.
