LeRoy Frank Jablonski of LaGrange, KY, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in hospice care at Baptist Hospital LaGrange at the age of 84 years old. LeRoy was born on February 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to William and Irene (Murawski) Jablonski. He attended Saint Michael's Catholic School and then graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1960. He served in Vietnam with the US Army in the 3rd of the 5th Calvary 9th Division, better known as the “Black Knights”. He was awarded an Army Commendation Medal with a V for Valor, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 4, 1968.

On January 24, 1964, he married Rosalie Louise Luczak in Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Chicago, Illinois. They made their home in Chicago, Illinois, until Amoco Oil transferred them to Des Moines, Iowa, in July of 1974. LeRoy retired from Amoco Oil, the Associates, and finally Citigroup in February 2007, after 45 five years of service.

LeRoy was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, the VFW Post 738, the Disabled American Veterans, the Vietnam Veterans Association and the Iowa Black Knights. He enjoyed volunteering at the VA Hospital and especially enjoyed parking cars for the Iowa State Fair as a VFW volunteer. His hobbies included collecting key wind pocket watches, playing cards, and reading western novels. He enjoyed yearly vacations to Hilton Head with his wife Rosalie, and they had some lively times there.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rosalie (Luczak) Jablonski; his parents, William and Irene Jablonski; and sister, Sally Jablonski. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ann (Joshua) Bourgeois, and grandson, William Bourgeois.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in LeRoy's name to the 3rd Squadron 5th Cavalry Memorial Fund. Checks can be made out to Black Knights, 119 Victorian Ln, Jupiter Fl, 33458.

Visitation will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church (3663 66th St. Urbandale, IA) on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel) at 12:30 p.m.
