She and Norman were married on April 10, 1945, and moved to Ashland, Ohio in 1951 where they raised three children. Lee spent many years working in the business offices of Ashland University before retiring to enjoy more time with her family.A devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church, Lee's faith was central to her life. She served the church in numerous ways: as a choir member, piano accompanist for Sunday school, teacher, and volunteer, with a particular fondness for the annual rummage sale. Her kindness and devotion were felt throughout the congregation and community.Lee was also known for her many talents and interests. She was an accomplished pianist, an avid reader, and enjoyed hobbies such as counted cross-stitch, painting, and sewing. She took great joy in attending her grand children and great-grandchildren's choir concerts and sporting events, always eager to cheer them on.Lee's early years were shaped by humble beginnings in a one-room schoolhouse in Plymouth Township, Ohio. During World War II and before marrying Norm, she was trained by the government as a Cadet Nurse at Akron City Hospital while her husband-to-be served in the South Pacific. They were married during one of Norm's brief three-day leaves from the Marines. After his graduation from Cleveland State University (Fenn College), they settled in Ashland, where they made their home and raised their family. After retiring, Lee and Norman spent their winters in Florida, where Norman would enjoy golfing and Lee would find a new past time in painting.Lee's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.Lee is survived by her three daughters, Karen Stimpert (Dale) of Cincinnati, Deborah Rogers (Donald) of Ashland, and Kathleen Mack of Cincinnati.
