Leon Paul Susarchick, age 78, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Bristol Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 17, 1948, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Leon was the beloved son of Matthew Susarchick Sr. and Florence (Farina) Gryniuk. He lived with a deep appreciation for the outdoors, finding great joy in hunting and fishing. A talented painter, he made his living with his art and often used his skills to help friends and family. A devoted sports fan, he proudly followed the Philadelphia Eagles and UConn basketball. Above all, Leon cherished time spent with his family, especially his many nephews and nieces.
The family is deeply grateful to his niece Michele Susarchick for her constant presence and loving care throughout his life.
Leon is survived by his nephew Michael Susarchick of Lakeland, Florida; his nieces Laurie Sargeant and her husband Howard of Waterbury, Michele Susarchick of Waterbury, and Kimberly Susarchick of Wolcott; his sister-in-law Joan (Morin) Susarchick of Wolcott; and his great-nieces and nephews Justin, Matthew, Madison, Emily, Kaitlyn, Luke, and Jenna. He also leaves his cousins Beverly and Jimmy Macburney, Jerry and Anthony Gardino, along with many extended family members and dear friends, especially Danny Ferrari. He was predeceased by his brother Matthew Susarchick Jr.
