He was born on April 27,1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Horace and Ardelia Girouard.Leon was a machinist by trade. After his training and service in the Army, he returned to Port Arthur and worked on Texaco Island and later at Ameripol-Synpol. Leon loved gardening and tinkering in his shop while listening to the radio. He loved to share his batches of homemade wine and vegetables with his neighbors and friends. He spent many evenings on the backyard swing with his wife, Juanita, and his cat, Blondie. Above all, Leon was a family man. He was a faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed his time as an usher.He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Audrey, Rhona, and Murphy.Leon is survived by his wife, Juanita; his son Troy Allen Jones and wife Carole; daughter Maureen Mateo and husband Carlos. He is also survived and cherished by his grandchildren Tyler, Gabby, Andrew, Elisa, and Linsey as well as great-grandson, Ace.The family would like to thank the staff of both Baptist Hospital and Harbor Hospice for their kindness and exceptional care. A special thank you goes out to his nieces Alexa, Darlie, Diana, Kay, Terry and Sabrina and their families for their help and love during Leon's illness.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627.A gathering of Mr. Girouard's family and friend will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recitation to be announced, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland. His interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
