Leo Herrmann ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory - Greenwood Chapel on Mar. 10, 2026.Leo Charles Herrmann, 86, of Greenwood went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Franciscan Hospice House in Marion County.He was born April 10, 1939, the son of Leo Bernard and Stella Anna (Roell) Herrmann on a farm, West of Glenwood, IN. He graduated from Orange Township High School in 1957, where he was active in athletics as a pitcher on the softball team and a guard on the basketball team.On October 24, 1964, he was married at Central Christian Church in Connersville, IN to Wanita Ketcham. Together, they reared two children, David Brian and Janet Rose.Leo worked for more than seventeen years for McQuay Norris. He later spent twenty years working as a truck driver for IWX Trucking (Indiana Western Express), a job he greatly enjoyed. During his time there, he earned the Safe Driver Award for driving over a million miles without an accident. He retired early in 2002 to lovingly care for his wife, Wanita.After living thirty-eight years in the Everton area, Leo and Wanita moved to be near their children and grandchildren. While in Greenwood, Leo became a member of Suburban Baptist Church of Indianapolis. He was an avid reader of the Bible and faithfully read through it each year.In his leisure, Leo enjoyed sports. He was a fan of Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts football, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and Indiana Pacer basketball. He also enjoyed attending the Indianapolis 500.Above all, he loved spending time with his wife and family, and cherished his roles as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Wanita Ketcham Herrmann, who passed away on August 7, 2014.Leo was one of 14 children, and he was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Anna Roell, and father, Leo Bernard Herrmann; his twin siblings, Richard and Rita; brothers Louis and Gerald; and sisters Ann Drew, Rosemary Fleming, Marie Frait, Kathleen Fayhee, Margaret, Marilyn, and Carolyn.Leo is survived by his sister, Edith Johnson, and his brother, Joe Herrmann; his son, David (wife Yvette); and his daughter, Janet Herrmann-Kerkman.He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael David (wife Ali), Matthew Leo (wife Bethany), Kiela Miraya, and Rilen Wayne; and his great-grandchildren, Ellie Blake, Beckham Leo, Addie Love, and Theo Allen.Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Suburban Baptist Church with Pastor Ford Glover officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens of Greenwood at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, March 18.Final arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
