Leng Thor

Leng “Tsav Pov” Thor, age 71, a beloved father, grandfather, and husband, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on the morning of Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Madison, Wisconsin.

Born on June 6, 1954, in Muang Moc near Xieng Khouang, Laos, Leng was the son of the late Nao Lue Thao and Chae Vang. At the age of 15, he served as a Sergeant with the Lao Special Guerrilla Units from 1969 to 1975 during the Vietnam War. In 1979, he married Xay Xiong. In June of 1980, Leng, Xay, and his younger brother Dang were sponsored to the United States.

After arriving in Wisconsin, Leng dedicated himself to learning English through night classes at Downtown Madison Area Technical College while working tirelessly to raise his eleven children. He retired from the UW Madison Power Plant after more than 25 years of service in 2017. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he took great pride in his remarkable green thumb, spending countless hours tending to his beloved vegetable garden.

Leng is survived by his significant other of 15 years, Chor Vue; his eleven children with Xay Xiong—sons David (Samantha), whose daughter is Temperance; Jason; Bobby; Jamie; Tim; and Mark; and daughters Julie (Tim), whose children are Vincent, Rinoa, and Keenan Ly; Deena, whose children are Taliya, Leon, Raylen, and Nala Yang; Annie (Kong), whose children are Chinou (Duachi), Owen, and Jada Yang, and who is awaiting the arrival of her son Yu Pheng; Sunny (Jordan), whose son is Nolan McConnell; and Rachel (Khoua), who is expecting Lucian. He is also survived by his brothers Wa Kai and Pao Houa, his sisters Mai and Xee, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dang.
