Lena Hammer ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Askins Cremation Funeral Services on Mar. 5, 2026.October 2, 1957 – March 1, 2026Lena Marie Hammer, 68, of Edinboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026,surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer, COPD, and congestive heart failure.Born in Erie, PA on October 2, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Hammer and Norma Jean Schmeider. Lena was a devoted mother who gave everything she had - and then some - to raising her sons and grandson. She loved music, tending her garden, and above all, her family.Lena had a gift for standing up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves. She was fierce in her love and unflinching in her loyalty.She is survived by her son, Shawn Hammer; her grandson, Damian Hammer; her sisters, Sandra Lee Johnson and Darlene Wenner; her brother, Norman Hammer; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Norma Jean; her son, Timothy Joseph Hammer; and her siblings, Sherry Ann Reilly, Edward Hammer, and Nancy Olson.She was an incredible mother.
