Leila Ruth West

Leila Ruth West was born on May 23, 1959, and passed away on March 11, 2026, at 5:01 p.m., surrounded by her family at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

A devoted caregiver who retired four years ago, Leila found deep joy in simple pleasures and the company of those she loved. She cherished time with her family, days at the beach, cruises, and tending her garden where she grew vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed regular lunches with her many friends. Her closest companion was her beloved little dog, Bojangles, with whom she shared many peaceful moments watching birds and squirrels from her window.

Leila will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her two sons, Bobby Shute and his wife Catherine of Orange, Texas, and Blake Shute and his wife Tish; her four granddaughters, Jolie, Bailey, Berkley, and Lily, of whom she was always so proud; and her siblings, Wiley and Kathleen West of Bridge City, Texas, Jane Campbell of Orange, Texas, and Mary West of Orange, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Doris West.
